Spokane’s next CJA panel meeting will be on July 16 at noon. Steve Hormel will be discussing practical applications of Fed.R.Crim.P. 17’s provisions regarding subpoenas for witnesses and documents.
Yakima’s next meeting will be on July 23 at 4:30. Rebecca Pennell will be presenting a summary of the Supreme Court’s criminal decisions from the 08-09 term.

The Administrative Office of U.S. Courts, Office of Defender Services Training Branch, is offering a CJA panel seminar in Chicago, Illinois from August 20-22. This is a multi-track training, covering: gangs, computer crimes, immigration, sentencing, forensics, mental health, non-capital mitigation, and trial skills. There will also be a full-day session on August 20, 2009 entitled ”Fundamentals of Federal Criminal Practice,” which is designed for practitioners new to federal criminal defense. The Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington and Idaho will be offering its annual “Thrills and Skills” seminar on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Davenport hotel in Spokane. Agenda and registration information will be posted once its available.

I’m sorry I will be missing this CJA meeting! It would be great if the summary of cases would be available on the blog or on the website.
